The First United Church of God in Rockford, IL is taking Matthew 25:31-45 seriously and
literally. On Saturday, August 15th, we sponsored a clothing giveaway; in total over 75
people came and browsed throughout a selection of men's, women, and children's
clothing. Miscellaneous items such as computers, vacuum cleaners, ironing board, irons and
much more were given away to the "least of these".
Then on Monday, August 17th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm our church grounds exploded with
over 400-500 people for our first Mobile Food Pantry. During those times the First
United Church of God gave away over 9,082 lbs of food, which consisted of 1,740 lbs
of meat products, and in addition 920 lbs of chicken that measured out to 5 lbs or more,
over 2,000 lbs of potatoes, as well as over 372 cases of other miscellaneous foods and
cleansers. In total 300 people were given food in
an hour and a half.
In addition to the clothing and food giveaway, the First United Church of God and it's
sister church in Beloit, WI is active in providing ministry to local Nursing Homes,  Women's
Shelters, and the Winnebago County jail. We also work on a regular basis with the
Rockford Rescue Mission.
Our next Mobile Food Pantry will be on Monday, October 19th between 5:00pm and
7:00pm. Please continue to pray for us, our church is moving forward in excitement and in
the anticipation of buying a 3.7 acre piece of property at the end of our street across
from our local elementary school.
Members of the First Church of God, Rt. 37 South of
West Frankfort gathered on Sunday, June 7 for the
dedication of a new sign which had been recently installed
on the front of the church building.

The sign was purchased with money from a fund supplied by
monetary donations given in lieu of flowers in memory of Bro.
Harry Stipes at his passing in February, 2008.
It had long been the desire of Bro. Stipes to see such a sign in
place at the church.  Interim Pastor, Alan Ozment, officiated
at the dedication service.
